I've been writing speculative fiction in the tangled wilds of the Pacific Northwest for more than fifteen years!

  • My children's fantasy is published with a "Big 5" publisher.

  • I've worked as an editor, critique partner, and mentor for all kinds of writers (published and unpublished) to help improve their stories.

  • I was a mentor (in the MG reader category) for three years with the (now retired) global writing contest "Pitch Wars."

  • I have an MA in literature and a second BS in environmental studies.

  • I'm a voracious reader. I've studied the classics and adore some literary work, but my favorite reads at the moment are highly speculative (meta) fic, as well as rom-com, historical, and/or cozy romantasy. I love LGBTQ+ romance. I enjoy both low-stakes (not no-stakes) and spice. I've also worked on mystery and non-fiction, so if you work in those categories and want me as a coach, don't be shy. Reach out and we'll see if if your project is a good match for me.

Finally, I'm a devoted pluviophile and often write with a thunderstorm soundtrack. I love Thai food, cats, and anime, can tell you all about gelatinous zooplankton, and will 100% name your pets if you let me.

Please note: I'm a values forward writer and book coach. I treat people with kindness and respect and expect the same in return. That said, I believe:

  • Science is real (and so is climate change).

  • Black lives matter and systemic racism exists.

  • Love is love.

  • Women, immigrant, and transgender rights are human rights.

  • No book should be banned.

  • We need diverse books no matter where we live.

I will question built-in assumptions (my own included) when I see them. We all have them, and I consider this my responsibility not only as a coach, but as a human. If this rubs you the wrong way then we're probably not a good match to work together.

Ready to work with me?
